The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is on-track to award the maintenance and operating contracts to the water and power distribution utilities in New Clark City.

“Ang bidding po ay ongoing ngayon … The schedule is we will be awarding by September of this year. So I think third week of September awarded na iyong dalawang kontratang iyon,” BCDA president and CEO Vince Dizon said Wednesday.

BCDA has identified three qualified bidders for the water and wastewater distribution facilities, among them are Maynilad, Manila Water, Prime Water.

At least four companies have expressed their intent to bid for the electric power distribution system.

“I think Meralco also submitted, AboitizPower …” Dizon said.

“So we will find out the winner by third week of September. So abangan po natin iyan.”

The winning bidder will develop the electric power distribution system, and the other will take care of the water and wastewater infrastructure in the new metropolis.

New Clark City is envisioned to be Asia’s premiere economic hub.

The 9,450-hectare New Clark City, located within the Clark special economic zone that spans Angeles City in Pampanga and the towns of Capas and Bamban in Tarlac, is the country’s first smart, disaster-resilient, and sustainable city.

The first phase of the development covering 60 hectares features the National Government Administrative Center that will house back-up offices of various government agencies and a world-class sports complex now being constructed in time for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

The new metropolis will also have mixed-use residential, commercial, agro-industrial, educational institutions, and information technology developments.
